These statistics are based on the central records help by Thames Valley police and cover the entire force area.A collision is recorded when:
“An incident occurring on the public highway, which involved at least one vehicle, resulted in at least one personal injury and was reported to the police.”
There was a change in the guidelines for classifying serious collisions on 1st January 1999.This resulted in an increase in the number of collisions reported as serious.
