Our mapping system allows you to see collisions and camera sites in your area. Currently the map is kept updated with collisions and camera sites throughout Berkshire.
A Postcode entry system on the map allows you to go straight to a specific area. You also have the ability to filter between safety cameras and collision locations. Dragging the green bar will allow you to specify the time period you wish to look at within a given year.
Clicking on the ‘+’ in the lower left of the screen will bring up the legend.
Fixed camera
This is a fixed camera location. Clicking on the camera icon on a site will bring up the location ID, speed limit, site ID and installation date. It will also have a figure for collisions before and after installation based on three years before and three years after. A three year tally of recent collisions based on the most recent data is also displayed.
Mobile camera
This is a mobile enforcement location where speed enforcement is carried out by mobile vans. Clicking on the camera icon on a site will bring up the location ID, speed limit, site ID and installation date. It will also have a figure for collisions before and after installation based on three years before and three years after. A three year tally of recent collisions based on the most recent data is also displayed.
Average speed cameras
This is a location where an average speed enforcement system has been set up. Clicking on the camera icon on a site will bring up the location ID, speed limit, site ID and installation date. It will also have a figure for collisions before and after installation based on three years before and three years after. A three year tally of recent collisions based on the most recent data is also displayed.
Traffic light Camera
This is a camera location where a red-light enforcement system is in place. Clicking on the camera icon on a site will bring up the location ID, site ID and installation date. It will also have a figure for collisions before and after installation based on three years before and three years after. A three year tally of recent collisions based on the most recent data is also displayed.
Fatal Collision
A collision will be classified as Fatal where death occurs in less than 30 days as a result of the collision and other than through natural causes or suicide.
Serious Collision
A Collision will be classified as serious when, for example any of the following apply:
- Any fracture
- Internal injury
- Severe cuts
- Crushing
- Burns (excluding friction burns)
- Severe general shock requiring hospital treatment
- Detention in hospital as an in-patient (immediate or later)
- Fatal injuries where death occurs 30 or more days after the collision
Slight Collision
A collision will be classified as Slight where any other injury occurs however minor including for example:
- Bruises
- Slight cuts
- Slight sprains including neck whiplash injury
- Slight shock requiring roadside treatment
