Business Travel Plans
It is estimated that, every day, 75,000 people commute in and out of Slough.
Many of these commuters use private cars which contribute to congestion, air pollution and road safety problems.
Slough Borough Council’s road safety team is currently undertaking a research survey of large, medium and small businesses in the Slough area to find out how people travel to work and which companies, if any, have business travel plans.
A business travel plan is a package of measures aimed at promoting sustainable travel within an organisation.
Business travel plans aim to promote greener travel choices with an emphasis on reducing the reliance on the car or at least on single occupancy car travel.
It includes a set of mechanisms, initiatives and targets that together enable a business to reduce the impact of its travel and transport needs on the environment.
A business travel plan is not a ‘one off’ document that can be drawn up and left on the shelf. It is a dynamic process that will develop with the changes in travel requirements of the business and the environment in which it operates.
