Speed Checks
As well as fixed safety camera sites, Thames Valley Police also undertake speed checks at other locations across the borough. Many of these sites are as a result of concerns raised by members of the public about excessive vehicle speeds.
Safety cameras and Police roadside checks
Slough uses a mixture of safety cameras, red light cameras and Police mobile vans to enforce speeding in the borough.
The sites have been chosen as they have a high rate of casualties or are as a result of concerns raised by members of the public about excessive vehicle speeds.
Roadside stops
The Police and Road Safety Unit also work together in a programme of roadside stops. It targets drivers or passengers who commit offences such as:
- drivers using mobile phones
- drink driving
- people not wearing seatbelts
- children travelling unrestrained
Roadside stops offer an option of education instead of a fine or points.
